Using .NET in the Classroom is a workshop for instructors teaching programming, database systems, programming languages, web applications or related technologies in the classroom. This workshop will cover the .NET developer technologies at a high level, including coverage of .NET Framework 2.0, Visual Studio 2005, SQL Server 2005, Windows Applications, ASP.NET Web Applications, Web Services, Mobile and Smart Client development. It will also cover relevant academic topics including: .NET's support for multiple programming languages from C# and VB to community supported versions of Python and Scheme; new .NET language features like Generics; and, new Visual Studio features such as the embedded web server for easily debugging and testing web applications in a lab environment. Guidance on how to quickly and easily get up to date on these technologies and best practices for introducing them in your curriculum will be covered with each topic. A brief overview of MSDN Academic Alliance and related academic programs from Microsoft will be provided as well.
