Developing Next-Generation Applications on .NET is a technical workshop for instructors teaching programming, connected/distributed systems, GUI, web services, developer security or related technologies in the classroom. This workshop will cover enhancements to the .NET development technologies to enable architecting and developing secure Smart Client applications that take advantage of the power of multiple devices and platforms, work on multiple form factors, and support service oriented architectures. Topics covered will include enhancements to secure development in .NET Framework 2.0 and Visual Studio 2005, team software development and testing with Visual Studio 2005 Team System, Web Services, Mobile Development, and emerging technologies including Indigo for next-generation messaging subsystems and Avalon for next-generation UI and media presentation. This list of topics will be consolidated with coverage of the Smart Client application model and demos of building applications that take advantage of this new functionality. Guidance on how to quickly and easily get up to date on these technologies and best practices for introducing them in your curriculum will be covered with each topic.
